The Ardbryan Eye Clinic has recently opened in Drogheda providing complete eye care, including laser eye surgery. Other eye treatments include screening and treatments for diabetic retinopathy, glaucoma, age related macular degeneration and cataracts. The clinic will also provide a 24/7 facility for any eye emergencies.

Mr John Fenton FRCSI Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon and Dr Joe Murphy GP are the Medical Directors of the clinic. Mr Fenton has extensive experience in cataract, retinal and refractive surgery and has carried out several thousand procedures at his LaserVision Eye Clinic in Dublin.

Screening for diabetic retinopathy is of particular importance to the clinic Diabetic retinopathy accounts for 12% of all new cases of blindness each year and is the leading cause of blindness in patients between 20 and 65 years of age. Sight loss from diabetes can usually be prevented if retinopathy is diagnosed and treated early. The Ardbryan Eye Clinic also provides a mobile Telescreening service to other GP’s in the area. This new intelligent software application allows GP’s at remote locations to diagnose patients and direct referrals for treatment.
